The Department of Posts has released two commemorative stamps and picture postcards on breast cancer awareness, using its nationwide network to take a health message beyond clinics. The Health Ministry supplied technical material for the initiative, launched on 30 October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
At the event, officials connected awareness with the existing primary-care system. The ministry said screening for oral, breast and cervical cancers is integrated into services at more than 1.8 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, with referral and treatment handled through higher-level facilities.
The ministry reported 86.97 crore screenings across those three cancer categories. That is a count of screenings, not necessarily a count of different people, and it must not be presented as a breast-cancer diagnosis total. The initiative's purpose is to encourage timely engagement with care, rather than establish a new clinical test.
Public communication can help address fear and stigma, but it cannot replace an individual medical assessment. The route described by the ministry runs from screening and referral to diagnostic confirmation and treatment. Readers seeking advice about symptoms or screening should consult a qualified healthcare professional rather than treating a stamp campaign or news report as a personal medical recommendation.
