The Northeast Education Conclave concluded in Nagaland's Chumoukedima on September 19 after two days of discussion on NEP 2020 implementation.
Participants called for internships, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship and career counselling. These support different transitions: gaining workplace experience, learning alongside employment and choosing a career are related but not identical tasks.
The proposed outcomes included skill hubs within existing institutions and routes for academic progression. Linking practical training with progression addresses whether learners can continue their education rather than encounter a dead end after a skills course.
Speakers also advocated regional research collaboration and student mobility. A proposed special financial package accompanied those ambitions; it was a request for support, not an announcement that the money had been sanctioned.
