Revenue intelligence officers have uncovered an alleged synthetic-drug manufacturing laboratory in Jalaun district, Uttar Pradesh, and arrested two people. In a release issued on 30 October, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence said the operation and follow-up searches yielded approximately 1,100 kilograms of drugs and precursor chemicals, as well as manufacturing equipment.

The initial raid took place early on 29 October with operational assistance from Uttar Pradesh ATS. DRI reported about 184 kilograms of semi-prepared drugs and 582 kilograms of precursor chemicals at the suspected laboratory. Subsequent searches yielded 15.4 kilograms of finished methaqualone, additional chemicals and a machine.

The distinction between finished drugs, intermediate material and precursor chemicals is important: the headline seizure total does not mean officers recovered 1,100 kilograms of ready-to-sell narcotics. The agency's detailed breakdown describes materials at different stages of an alleged production chain.

The two suspects were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The release describes the agency's findings, not a conviction; responsibility and the evidentiary value of the seized materials remain matters for the investigation and judicial process.
