The UAE announced on October 1, 2026 that Attorney-General Hamad Al Shamsi had formed a specialised prosecution team to investigate flydubai flight FZ1073. The Dubai-Tel Aviv service had diverted and landed safely at Tabuk in Saudi Arabia.

The foreign ministry cited flydubai's account of an altercation in the flight deck and intervention by airline crew travelling on board. Those circumstances put both the cockpit confrontation and the response that secured the aircraft within the inquiry.

The ministry based UAE jurisdiction on the aircraft's registration and flag. Its explanation separated the place of landing from the legal connection it invoked: according to the ministry, UAE law covered crimes aboard the aircraft outside national territory.

Investigators were to examine motives, possible terrorist intent and any prior planning or direction. The October 1 account thus set out distinct questions about what happened and why; it did not present a completed reconstruction of the incident.
