Starbucks is planning to open its first corporate office in India, focused on technology operations, as the company looks to strengthen in-house capabilities and reduce dependence on outsourced services.
According to reports, the new office is expected to begin operations in Starbucks’ fiscal year 2027, which starts in October 2026.
The company is currently in the process of finalising a location and is expected to begin hiring once the site is confirmed later this year.
The India office will primarily support technology-related functions and form part of Starbucks’ broader global restructuring and cost optimisation strategy.
The move is aimed at bringing several outsourced technology roles back within the company’s direct operations.
The development comes as Starbucks continues efforts to streamline operations globally and reduce costs.
Reports indicate the company is targeting nearly $2 billion in savings through restructuring initiatives and operational changes.
Starbucks currently operates in India through its 50:50 joint venture with Tata Consumer Products under the Tata Starbucks business.
The brand has expanded its store network steadily across major Indian cities over the years.
The new technology office marks Starbucks’ first corporate setup in India beyond its retail operations and is expected to support the company’s growing global technology and digital infrastructure requirements.
Reliance Retail has appointed Sandeep Karwa as the new Chief Executive Officer of AJIO as part of a wider leadership restructuring within its retail business.
Former AJIO CEO Vineeth Nair has reportedly taken on a broader role within Reliance Retail following the leadership transition.
Karwa brings significant experience in the e-commerce and digital commerce sector.
