President Droupadi Murmu congratulated India's Asian Games medallists on September 28, 2026, highlighting the men's javelin double podium and Vithya Ramraj's national record. Her messages also recognised Murali Sreeshankar, Gulveer Singh and Parul Chaudhary, along with kurash bronze medallist Pincky Balhara. Murmu noted that Chaudhary had won medals on successive days and praised Balhara's return to the Games podium.

Yashvir Singh took javelin silver with 85.72 metres and Rohit Yadav bronze with 84.35 metres. Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage won at 88.55 metres. Speaking to PTI, Yashvir described difficulty gripping the wet run-up during persistent drizzle and said he was pleased to achieve a personal best. He had entered the team as a replacement for the injured Neeraj Chopra.

Sreeshankar's silver came despite an ankle injury on his fourth attempt, after which he missed his final two jumps. His second-round effort of 8.07 metres held up for second place, PTI reported. The competition's results list China's Shi Yuhao first at 8.17 metres and Uzbekistan's Anvar Anvarov third at 8.06 metres, leaving the Indian just one centimetre ahead of bronze.

In the men's 1500 metres, Gulveer clocked 3:36.72 for silver behind Japan's Kazuto Iizawa, who finished in 3:36.35. Another Japanese runner, Nagiya Mori, took bronze in 3:37.92. India's Yoonus Shah finished ninth in 3:43.88. The result gave Gulveer another podium finish after his silver in the men's 10,000 metres earlier at the Games.

Ramraj ran 54.75 seconds for women's 400-metre hurdles bronze, lowering the Indian record previously shared with P T Usha. Chaudhary completed her medal double by finishing third in the women's 5000 metres in 15:14.61, behind Bahrain's Winfred Yavi and Japan's Nozomi Tanaka. Her earlier bronze had come in the 3000-metre steeplechase.
