APEDA reported an Austria-bound shipment of 22.6 tonnes of dried whole egg powder from Balangir, Odisha, on June 20, 2026. The exporter was OVO Farm, whose processing facility was established in 2025, according to the agency.
The product serves a different market from eggs sold in their shells. APEDA describes spray-drying liquid eggs into an ingredient used by food processors, including bakeries and confectionery manufacturers.
USDA's food-safety explanation identifies liquid, frozen and dried products as separate processed forms and describes operations such as filtering, heat treatment, drying and packing. Food manufacturers value these forms for handling and storage convenience.
Drying and pathogen control are not the same operation. USDA explains the role of validated treatments in reducing harmful bacteria, while safe storage and protection from contamination remain relevant after processing.
The Balangir shipment connects poultry production with an ingredient supply chain. Processing changes the form in which manufacturers receive egg, while treatment, storage and contamination control protect its suitability for use.
