Indian Navy chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan met Australian Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Anita Williams in Sydney, according to a September 10 Akashvani report citing the Indian Navy. They discussed fleet capabilities, acquisitions and operational interaction.

Swaminathan also visited HMAS Kuttabul. The Royal Australian Navy identifies it as an administrative, training and logistics centre within the Garden Island precinct, rather than a ship carrying that name.

Kuttabul houses a support unit maintaining ships and submarines and a centre where newly trained technicians consolidate their skills. Those functions connect equipment with the personnel and upkeep needed to keep it usable.

The visit thus paired discussion of cooperation at sea with the shore infrastructure sustaining naval forces. Maintenance capacity and technician development provide a practical context for examining fleet capabilities; the reported talks did not announce a joint purchase.
