The 22nd India-US Yudh Abhyas exercise opened at Auli, Uttarakhand, on September 15, with parallel activity at Rajasthan's Mahajan Field Firing Range. The Defence Ministry reported 600 personnel from each side.

The programme focused on integrated battle groups and infantry-led operations in mountainous and semi-mountainous terrain. Drones and autonomous systems featured in reconnaissance training, with weapon demonstrations at Mahajan.

Those activities address different operational tasks. Reconnaissance gathers information; joint planning determines how forces use it; demonstrations examine equipment in a training setting. Combining them connects technology with unit procedures.

The two-site format joins terrain-specific training with a separate range environment. Exchanges between subject specialists also covered emerging technologies and multi-domain warfare, extending the programme beyond individual equipment demonstrations.
