India's software-services exports increased 8.2% to $221.4 billion in 2025-26, excluding sales through overseas commercial presence, according to the RBI survey released on September 18, 2026. Including services delivered by foreign affiliates of Indian companies, the reported total was $239.3 billion, up 9.5%. Local business by those affiliates rose to $17.9 billion from $13.9 billion.

The United States accounted for 54.1% of exports and Europe for 31.8%, with Britain a major European destination. Computer services made up more than two-thirds of the total, while business-process outsourcing dominated IT-enabled services. Off-site delivery accounted for 91.7%. The US dollar remained the leading invoicing currency, followed by the euro, rupee and pound sterling.

RBI contacted 7,569 exporting companies and received 2,363 responses, including most large firms. Respondents represented about 89% of estimated exports. The bank estimated exports for smaller non-responding companies using its established methodology.

The bank's earlier 2023-24 survey provides a dated comparison: exports excluding overseas commercial presence were $190.7 billion, with off-site delivery accounting for 90%. The US share was 54% and Europe's 31%. That release put the broader total including foreign affiliates at $205.2 billion, of which $14.5 billion was local affiliate business. These are 2023-24 observations, not figures for the immediately preceding financial year.

In that older survey, RBI received 2,266 responses from 7,226 contacted companies, again covering nearly 89% of estimated exports. Its tables reported $131 billion in computer services and $59.7 billion in IT-enabled services, including $50.1 billion in BPO exports. Read alongside the latest release, those results show a larger export base and a higher off-site share, while the principal destination markets and broad service mix remained similar.
