India will face Afghanistan in the second men’s T20 International at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on 15 September with a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
The hosts won the opening match by seven wickets after chasing Afghanistan’s 156 for eight in 13.4 overs. Abhishek Sharma led the response with 82 from 32 balls, while Ishan Kishan contributed 42.
India’s chase recovered quickly despite the early dismissal of Sanju Samson. The scoring rate established by Abhishek and Kishan prevented Afghanistan from turning the new-ball breakthrough into sustained pressure.
For Afghanistan, the second match presents an immediate test of bowling plans against India’s top order and of whether the batting unit can convert starts into a total that is harder to overhaul at the same venue.
The third and final T20 International is scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday, leaving little turnaround time for either side to adjust during the series.
