Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and South Korean National Defense Minister Kang Shin-chul have discussed expanding cooperation in military technology and defence industry partnerships. The meeting took place in Cebu, Philippines, alongside the 13th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus.
The two ministers reviewed existing defence ties and considered opportunities to co-develop military technologies, strengthen industrial collaboration and deepen maritime-security cooperation. Their discussion was framed around a shared preference for an open, free and inclusive Indo-Pacific, according to the Indian Defence Ministry.
ADMM-Plus brings ASEAN members together with eight dialogue partners, including India and South Korea. Bilateral meetings at the forum allow partners to connect regional security discussions with practical areas such as technology development, supply chains, exercises and maritime coordination.
The talks signal political intent but the release does not announce a contract, platform or development timetable. Any co-development initiative will need a defined requirement, responsibilities, intellectual-property terms, financing and testing arrangements before it can move from diplomatic discussion to an operational military capability.
