A review of Totapuri mango prices proposed raising the fruit-pulp content of drinks after a committee visited Tirupati and Chittoor from July 8 to 10, 2026. The Agriculture Ministry described the recommendations on July 22.

The committee suggested a 22-25 per cent real-mango-pulp requirement and a 5 per cent GST rate for qualifying higher-pulp drinks. The ministry said an inter-ministerial meeting would consider the issues. That is not evidence that either proposal had become law.

The report connected growers' difficulties to procurement and processing coordination, limited pulp use in domestic beverages and export-market conditions. Its recommendations therefore concern demand for the processed crop as well as the price paid at the farm.

More pulp per qualifying drink could increase raw-material demand only if manufacturers adopted that formulation and sales supported it. It would not, on its own, guarantee that processors passed higher demand through to growers.

Similarly, a proposed reference procurement price is not an announced, universally guaranteed minimum support price. The practical test would be actual buying arrangements, quantities and payment terms, none of which the release establishes as an implemented new entitlement.
