An August 7, 2026 letter of intent between India's National Film Development Corporation and Brazil's RioFilme linked audiovisual cooperation with proposed Brazilian participation at WAVES 2027. It was exchanged at the close of the BRICS WAVES Bazaar in Mumbai, where the Information and Broadcasting Ministry reported more than 275 business meetings.

A later programme shows how that institutional outreach connected with opportunities for individual companies. RioMarket's India coordinator, Mugdha Chemburkar Datay, cited the Mumbai letter when inviting Indian producers, distributors and creative businesses to the October market in Rio de Janeiro. Her invitation covered co-production, distribution, licensing, adaptations and animation, rather than film production alone.

RioMarket's official agenda listed an October 7 session on opportunities in India's audiovisual industry. Scheduled speakers were director-producer Girish Hansraj Malik of Clapstem Productions, Helder Quiroga of Elipse and RioFilme president Leonardo Edde. The session description focused on how professionals could produce and collaborate with India, giving the broad bilateral initiative a specific industry-facing forum.

Reporting published by Brazilian cultural outlet Vivente Andante on October 6 described two further planned discussions: an introduction to the Indian market with Bombay Berlin Film Productions' Arfi Laamba, and an emerging-media session involving Graphiti Studios co-founder Munjal Shroff. Datay was listed as moderator of the latter.

The sequence illustrates two levels of market access: NFDC and RioFilme's institutional link, and sessions matching commercial interests with named practitioners. Production partnerships, distribution rights and emerging-media collaboration featured separately in the outreach, identifying different ways companies could participate in the exchange.
