Tripura's effort to reach overseas organic buyers brought farmers, producer organisations and exporters into the same room in Agartala. The Commerce Ministry's August 14, 2026 account recorded around 200 participants, including more than 20 international buyers, 27 exporters and 96 farmers representing 22 farmer producer organisations or companies.
Twelve stalls displayed Queen pineapple, Kalikhasa rice, ginger, turmeric, black sesame and jackfruit. Buyers came from Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Greece and Argentina, among other countries. APEDA organised the meeting with the Tripura State Organic Farming Development Agency and the state's Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department.
Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath called for stronger market links for farmers and producer groups and said the state would continue supporting organic farming. The programme also honoured organic farmers. The ministry described discussions about sourcing and market requirements, bringing the state's producers into direct contact with buyers.
Organic exports also depend on certification records. APEDA's TraceNet system holds supply-chain and quality-assurance data supplied by operators, producer groups and certification bodies. APEDA says responsibility for verifying the entries and certificates lies with those participants and accredited certification bodies, rather than the platform itself.
The eighth edition of the National Programme for Organic Production distinguishes two documents. A scope certificate is issued annually and specifies the operator's production, processing and handling activities. A transaction certificate covers each sale of organic products under NPOP and follows the certification body's verification of documents submitted by the operator.
The programme also provides for a provisional transaction certificate before export. It contains the consignment's shipment information except transport details; those are entered after shipment for the export transaction certificate. These requirements connect certification of a farm or processing operation with the records accompanying individual consignments sold through the export chain.
