Jitendra Singh said on June 7, 2026 that India's space economy was near USD 9 billion and could reach about USD 45 billion in seven to eight years.

A January 29 Department of Space parliamentary reply describes the earlier roadmap's USD 44 billion target for 2033, including USD 11 billion in exports. Exports would therefore account for one-quarter of that target, calculated from the two figures.

The reply identifies launch services, satellite and ground operations, Earth observation, communications and navigation as revenue sources. The commercial proposition extends beyond manufacturing spacecraft to operating systems and selling services based on them.

It also links expansion to customer adoption, demand generation and international collaboration. This makes market development part of the strategy: building technical capacity and finding customers are separate tasks within the same growth plan.
